Although I still found time to place my worst bet of 2025. Luckily it was a free bet, but I should really have just let it expire, at least I would have saved a few minutes of my time. Who did I back? At 1-1 in the first set of Opelka v Navone I backed a tie break. The American then lost the next 5 games. The next set finished 7-6 as well. What a piss take.
Let’s crack on with the golf. Same approach to last week. Compare the selections from the best golf tipsters. The free ones of course. Seems some of the top dogs are joining Rory for a week off with Coley, Palmer and Vincenzi not tipping this week, or at least that appears the case.
So that means 17 tipsters compared, combining for 30 different selections and I’ve just taken the two most popular picks, giving some tipsters more weight than others, obviously, it would be ignorant not too.
Two golfers therefore hit the magical 10pts.
First up Sepp Straka. 40/1 for the golfer now ranked 9th in the World with two wins this year? Seems a bit disrespectful. I’m happy to get involved though.
Nicklaus courses are often designed with approach play in mind and only 1 player has performed better in that statistic than Straka (I originally wrote Strava 🙄) this season.
As well as his fine recent form, the Austrian was 2nd through 54 holes last season, finishing 5th. So he has recent course form to boot.

Next up, Si Woo Kim. A player I used to back a lot in the early stage of his career, although I did miss out on the 500/1 at Sawgrass. Kudos to those that landed the big one that week.
Si Woo arrives on the back of a consistent run of form, T28 – T8 – T17 – T15 – T8, across his last 5 tournaments. He’s also got some decent course form too, 4th in 2023 and 8th in 2021.
Hopefully his putter behaves and Dave Tindall, Jeremy Chapman, Joe Champion, Niall Lyons, Sundog Monkey and My Golf Tips have all backed the Korean this week. Sundog always does a good job with his previews so it’s worth a read. CLICK HERE, although he does need to sort out his SSL certificate.
