Punters Diary 71 – Feeling Much Calmer

  • November 27, 2023

Last week was shit. 7 days ago I was on cloud 9 having landed winners on both of the main tours and wracked up a healthy profit.

I lost £100 of that this week. Mainly on the golf. But you know what, I feel different. I feel calmer. In the past, when following tipsters exclusively I’ve come to resent them when the results are not what I expect. That’s not a healthy emotion to experience.

I was far more relaxed again last week as my volume of bets was much lower. If there was any resentment to be had it was directed at Thriston Lawrence rather than the tipsters themselves.

This new betting approach of mine goes a little against the objective of this website but you also need to understand that my own personal circumstances have changed. My other business is taking off now so my time availability to gamble has been reduced.

So finding that right balance of still enjoying my betting and hopefully winning a few quid on the side is ultimately what I’m hoping to achieve.

One tipster that I have continued to follow is SP Tips. His approach works really well for me as his selections are all posted at the same time, meaning I don’t have to constantly on alert waiting for the next tip to cause my phone to vibrate.

Once again I made a nice profit following his tips over the weekend although there are still some outstanding selections from the Monday Night game to be settled.

The advice this week actually relates to what I tell my runners (I’m also now a running coach, who’d have thought) and that’s to consider how much time you can commit before setting any goals.

The answer to this question will vary from one punter to the next. Some of you might be retired or only work part time. Others might have busy careers that don’t allow much freedom.

So be realistic, the less time you have available the fewer tipsters you should follow and the less bets you should place. That doesn’t necessarily have to mean less profit. Since reducing the volume of my bets, I’ve increased my stakes slightly.

Thanks for reading and good luck with your betting going forward.
