As the NFL reaches the conclusion of Week 7 (at the time of writing), the Super Bowl LX picture is becoming clearer — and a familiar contender has reclaimed its spot at the top. The Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off a statement 31–0 win over the Denver Broncos, have emerged as the betting favourites to win Super Bowl LX, overtaking early front-runners like the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles.
The shutout victory not only silenced critics after a shaky start to the season but also sent a message to the rest of the league: the Chiefs are still the team to beat.
With the above in mind – let’s take a look at some of the favourites in the NFL odds and where they sit at the midpoint of the season.
Chiefs back on top
Entering the season, questions surrounded Kansas City. Could Patrick Mahomes continue to carry the offence after the departure of key weapons? Would the defence hold up in a competitive AFC? After a mixed opening stretch, the answers are starting to come in — loud and clear.
The Chiefs’ Week 7 domination of Denver was their most complete performance of the season. Mahomes threw for three touchdowns, the run game controlled the clock, and the defence forced two turnovers while holding the Broncos to just 145 total yards.
That performance didn’t go unnoticed – as they are now the sole favourites with the majority of bookies to win their third title in the last four seasons.
Buffalo Bills still in the hunt
Despite the shift in betting odds, the Buffalo Bills remain a top-tier contender. With a healthy Josh Allen under center and a top-five scoring defence, Buffalo sits at 4–2 and has shown flashes of championship potential.
Their offence continues to thrive, ranking in the top five in passing, rushing and receiving, and their defence has stiffened in red-zone situations. But back-to-back losses at the hands of the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons have raised some concerns about consistency.
Still, most bookies list just them behind Kansas City — and they remain a popular pick among analysts.
Is this the Detroit Lions’ year?
The Detroit Lions have firmly established themselves as one of the favourites to win Super Bowl LX thanks to a combination of continuity, talent, and momentum. Under head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions have built on their breakout 2024 season with a strong start in 2025, showcasing one of the most balanced rosters in the NFL.
Quarterback Jared Goff is playing some of the best football of his career, operating behind a dominant offensive line and supported by a dynamic backfield duo and explosive young receivers. On defence, Detroit has taken a major step forward, with Aidan Hutchinson leading a pass rush that consistently disrupts opposing quarterbacks.
Most importantly, the Lions have shed their reputation as underachievers — they now play with confidence, discipline, and a chip on their shoulder. With a relatively favourable NFC playoff path and one of the league’s most complete teams, Detroit is no longer a feel-good story — they’re a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Philadelphia Eagles look to repeat amid pressure
The Philadelphia Eagles entered the season with a target on their backs — and for good reason. After winning Super Bowl LIX in Las Vegas, Jalen Hurts and company returned largely intact, with high expectations of becoming the NFL’s next dynasty.
Through seven weeks, the Eagles are 5-2, and though they’ve had some close calls, they’ve found ways to win. Their ground game is still elite when utilised correctly, and Hurts has made strides as a pocket passer. However, defensive lapses in the secondary have opened the door for shootouts — and some doubt whether Philly can run it back against stronger AFC opponents.
Despite those concerns, the Eagles remain a major contender when looking at the betting lines.
