Where do we start with Paddy Power? At the beginning perhaps. Founded in 1988 this Irish bookmaker have taken an aggressive stance to marketing, often using a light hearted approach to try and win over customers.
Early payouts, money back specials, lavish promotions and a rewards club for members, it’s easy to see why Paddy Power are a popular bookmaker among a lot of punters.
But the rumour these days is they also have an aggressive approach on winning punters. Now I can’t back this up, but I believe they do have a team tracking accounts from the minute you sign up to see if you are likely to be a profitable customers or not. When did bookmakers stop becoming bookmakers and willing taking a risk?
If you’re a casual punter that likes a weekend accumulator, then Paddy Power is going to be a good choice for you. The fact they have Andy Robson sharing free tips on their blog tells you a lot.
Credit where credit is due, if you have access to Paddy Power, they are an excellent bookmaker. They offer a wide range of sports to bet on, with a huge depth in markets, especially on football. Compared to the days I started gambling, you can bet on almost anything now. Well you can’t if you are limited like me, but you know what I mean.
You can expect all the features that come with a leading online bookmaker such as live streaming, in-play betting, best odds guaranteed and a range of safer gambling tools, which is ironic given their approach to customers.
Like so many bookmakers, Paddy Power do have a reputation of restricting winning punters, and doing it fairly quickly. That was my experience too and whilst my account is still active with around £20 sitting idle (I should really withdraw that), I’d be lucky if I could stake more than 10p on a market I thought was value.
Enough moaning. Again if you are a punter who bets for fun, get involved. The sign up offer has always been one of the most generous on the market and their on-going promotions are likely to add a few extra pennies into your account.
They appear on the oddschecker grid as well, meaning you can take the top price, but that approach is likely to have your account flagged pretty quickly.
To be fair I don’t have proof that this is being done at PP HQ, but it’s the word on the street, so it all depends on your approach as a gambler whether you want to sign up with Paddy Power or not.
