If you type in Real Madrid v Bayern Munich betting tips into google you could probably find in the region of 100 different tipsters sharing their insight on this game. Where do you start? You could be there all day trying to fathom what the best bet is.
Luckily for me I know where to look. I built a site called Tips Checker several years ago which displayed the most popular bets on big matches like this and what I quickly learned were who the most reliable tipsters were.
Sadly that project didn’t prove fruitful but hopefully I can still use what I learned to good effect and win some money with my own betting going forward.
So rather the trail through 100s of different tips I stumbled on my bet for today within a matter of minutes. Tom Carnduff (SportingLife) and Lewis Jones (Betfair Blog) have both tipped the same player in card markets and that doesn’t happen a great deal.
Konrad Laimer is the bet here, the defensive midfielder for Bayern Munich. He’s a foul machine and whilst he’s not been that prolific at getting his name in the referees notebook it’s the magnitude of this tie which makes this such an appealing bet.
That’s what I love about Martin Ødegaard, those quick feet the way he can just turn and twist away from people. Clear yellow card for Konrad Laimer, that’s a beautiful bit of skill to just get away and open the pitch up before he’s brought down.

Tom points out that apart from the empty stadium Covid season, semi final 2nd legs in the Champions League have averaged 5.4 cards over the past 5 campaigns. 9 of the last 10 saw 5 or more.
The referee is Marciniak who averages 4.83 cards per game. In all 5 of his Champions League matches this season he’s dished out 5 cards are more.
Laimer commited 5 fouls across the two ties against Arsenal and was booked in the home tie. He also committed 4 fouls in the 1st leg against Real.
He’ll be up against the likes of Bellingham, Camavinga and Vinicius Junior. Lewis Jones points out that these three players have drawn 5.7 fouls per 90 minutes combined in the Champions League.
I always find the odds in this market fascinating with bookies completely disagreeing on what the correct price should be. William Hill clearly have no interest in taking any bets here pricing Laimer at 13/10.
But luckily for us a few bookmakers are willing to take on these two tipsters by dangling some 5/2. That will do me. As explained yesterday I’ll be investing 10% of my pot, not a sensible approach to gambling, but an exciting one. Choose your own stakes sensibly based on your own strategy and good luck if betting on tonight’s Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Tip: Konrad Laimer to be carded – Odds 3.5!!
