Punters Diary 69 – Time for a Break

  • November 13, 2023
  • Blog, Punters Diary

Time for a break. 7 months I’ve been investing a lot of time (and money) into following tipsters and here I am with a ROI of just 2.4%.

It’s become a chore. I gamble because I love sport. Often the thrill for me has been finding the bets and I’ve come to realise following lots of tipsters feels like an admin role.

Placing bets, tracking them, settling the results, without actually any real satisfaction. If I was winning a decent month then it would be different, but I’m not. I’m up +72pts or £720 (in 7 months). I’d predict about an hour a day committed to placing/tracking bets.

If my maths is correct that works out at about £2.50 per hour of time committed. I don’t know how much admin jobs pay these days, but I’m pretty sure they are more lucrative than that.

Much of my problem is bookmaker restrictions. My odds availability across all tipsters was around 60%. It’s no wonder my ROI was low.

I’ll be honest as well though, I have been disappointed in recent results from some of the tipsters I’ve followed, but equally I know how difficult it can be to beat the bookmakers.

So what next for me? I’ve always been a gambler and simply stopping isn’t in my nature. But I want to ensure that I’m enjoying my gambling again.

I watched the Chelsea v Man City game yesterday and was actually cheering on the home side despite having money on the away win. That was another reason I decided it was time to stop.

Golf has always been my sport and I will continue to bet on that. But rather than follow specific individual tipsters I will look to form my own opinion based on the tips I read. This is the part I’ve always enjoyed, trying to find the value and hopefully that will make gambling fun for me going forward.

I’ll continue to listen to my favourite podcasts in my spare time and place a few bets. I will also continue to track my betting going forward as that’s crucial. I’m confident this approach will bring me much better returns, from less time spent, than my current methods have.

As for Betting Kingdom it will give me more time to continue to make improvements to the site and add more tipster profiles. There are a lot of reviews coming in now, so my opinion isn’t as important.

Thank you to all the tipsters that have given me access to their services for free. I still hope to monitor your progress and give you the promotion you deserve.

Thanks for reading and remember, gambling should be fun, so make sure you are enjoying it, if you’re not, then perhaps look to change your approach.

“I’ve decided due to poor results and a lack of enjoyment that I will stop my current method of gambling. I hope to utilise the free time I now have available to improve the tipster comparison site and add more profiles.”
