Across Europe, fans are readying themselves for the end of the 2025/26 domestic season, with just a handful of games remaining across the continent before champions are crowned. Each of England’s Premier League, Germany’s Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A, and France’s Ligue 1 have clear title race favourites, while Spain’s La Liga has a mighty tight battle on its hands. But what has happened thus far, and what is still to come in the coming weeks and months? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal’s Time Is Surely Nigh
In the Premier League, the story is all about Arsenal and whether they can finally end their 22-year wait for the title. In each of the last three seasons, the Gunners have come perilously close to the promised land, finishing as runners-up on each occasion and surrendering golden opportunities to end their barren spell in two of them. Now, however, the stars have seemingly aligned to ensure that the title heads to the Emirates.
Reigning champions Liverpool have endured a miserable campaign by their lofty standards, while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City aren’t the all-conquering force of old. Mikel Arteta’s men, however, have provided a newfound steel that can grind out results week after week. And their most recent one was perhaps the biggest of the lot.
Sitting at the top of the Premier League, will Arsenal take care of business today?

The Gunners put in a dismal display on their recent trip to Brighton, but still managed to emerge with a 1-0 victory after Bukayo Saka’s first-half strike. Closest challengers City, meanwhile, twice uncharacteristically squandered leads at home to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, ultimately being forced to settle for a 2-2 draw. That pair of results means that Arsenal are now seven points clear at the summit, albeit having played one game more than Guardiola’s men.
As a result, the bookies now make them the overwhelming favourites to end their title drought in May. The latest Bovada sports betting odds currently price the Gunners as a 1/6 shot to finally get over the line, with City a 4/1 outsider.
Barcelona and Real Madrid go to the Wire
The 2025/26 season has been a tumultuous one in Spain. Barcelona headed into the campaign as the dominant force, having won a domestic treble last season. Real Madrid looked to close the gap, appointing legendary former midfielder Xabi Alonso as manager, as well as signing Trent Alexander-Arnold weeks before last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup. Unfortunately for Los Blancos, neither of those moves has worked out.
Alonso was sacked after barely six months in charge, following yet another El Clásico defeat to rivals Barça, this time in the Spanish Super Cup. His replacement, Alvaro Arbeloa, hasn’t fared much better, losing to the likes of Getafe and second-tier Albacete in recent weeks. Trent, meanwhile, looks like a shadow of the player who was so impressive with boyhood club Liverpool, his defensive frailties and inconsistent injury record once again being called into question.
But despite all the disarray at the Bernabeu, Real’s last-gasp victory away at Celta Vigo ensured that they stay just four points behind the Blaugrana in La Liga with just 11 games left to play. The bookies still make Hansi Flick’s Catalonians the 1/4 favourites to secure the title, with Real out at 3/1.
Milan’s Derby Victory Keeps Their Faint Title Hopes Alive
In Italy, Inter Milan are clearly the dominant force. They headed into their Derby della Madonnina clash against archrivals AC Milan with a mighty ten-point lead in Serie A. Victory would have sent them 13 clear and practically put one hand on the Scudetto. The Rossoneri, however, had other ideas.
Pervis Estupiñán’s first-half strike handed Milan a derby double over their archrivals for the first time in 15 years. The last time they achieved that feat, they went on to win the title. Overturning a seven-point deficit is still a huge task, but they will feel that they are still alive in the title race… for now.
Bayern Munich Streak Clear
Bayern Munich have long been Germany’s dominant force, winning the Bundesliga 12 times in the last 13 years, with Xabi Alonso’s invincible Bayer Leverkusen in 2023/24 the only blemish on that record. This term, they are motoring toward the crown once again.
England captain Harry Kane has been the catalyst, with his 30 goals in 24 games helping the Bavarians amass an 11-point lead over second-place Borussia Dortmund. Their recent 3-2 victory in Der Klassiker gave them a seemingly unassailable lead at the summit, and it would be hard to fathom Vincent Kompany’s men surrendering the title from here.
Uncharacteristic PSG
Much like Bayern in Germany, Paris Saint-Germain are the jewel in the crown of French football. The Parisians finally climbed to the mountaintop last season, claiming their maiden Champions League title after years of dominating in their homeland. This season, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they’d waltz their way to the title once again. However, things haven’t gone according to Luis Enrique’s plan.
Don’t get us wrong; PSG still leads Ligue 1, and it would be a huge shock if they didn’t end the season as champions. However, their recent 3-1 defeat at home to Monaco means that their lead over second-placed Lens sits at just one point. The reigning European champions have slumped to defeats against the aforementioned Monaco (twice), Marseille, and Rennes already this term. Any further slip-ups and the door for a title race stunner will certainly be ajar.
