Where to Play Casino Games in Finland

  • July 19, 2022

Europe is filled with countries with liberal gambling laws that make it easy for you to play your favourite casino games, including video slots, craps, poker, baccarat, blackjack and roulette.

Across the UK, you’ll find a handful of physical casinos in most cities, along with smaller venues that mostly offer electronic games in many other towns and cities. In Germany, around 50 casinos are operating across the country, while France and Italy have some of the oldest and fanciest casinos on the continent.

Perhaps the most famous of them all, though, is Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco. Opened in 1863, it remains one of the most glamorous casinos in the world and has been featured in countless movies including the Bond film, Golden Eye.
In the northern European country of Finland, things are a little different. Casinos are legal, but they’re operated by a state-run monopoly and there are only a few of them across the country.

So if you’re in Finland or are planning to visit sometime soon and you want to have a flutter, then here’s where you can find casino games to play.

Casino Helsinki

Casino Helsinki, as its name suggests, has a long history in Helsinki. Like most modern casinos, it offers a range of different entertainment options and amenities in addition to its gaming floor. This includes live shows from singers, comedians, and more; live sports throughout the day and night in its dedicated sports bar, and three other restaurants.

Of course, most people head to Casino Helsinki to play games, and they’re not left disappointed. It has more than 300 video slot machines, a dedicated poker room and 32 gaming tables.

Paf Casino

Paf Casino is located in the Arkipelago Hotel and Casino in Mariehamn that is in the islands. The islands are a Finnish archipelago located in the Baltic Sea and have been granted autonomy from Finland.
Paf Casino has just a handful of live gaming tables and a little over 10 video slot machines.

Online Casinos

Online casinos based within the borders of Finland are all operated by the state-run monopoly. However, many offshore online casinos like Ninja Casino also cater to the Finnish market, with a wide selection of games including popular titles like Gonzo’s Quest, Crazy Time, Book of Dead, and Starburst.

These casinos are typically licensed by overseas regulators like the Malta Gaming Authority and the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.

Like with online casinos that cater to other countries, Finns can play from their PC, smartphone or tablet, giving them the freedom to play their favourite casino games wherever they are.

Conclusion

Finns have several options when it comes to playing casino games, with offline and online casinos open for business. However, the choice is severely limited when compared to other countries in Europe, including the UK, Germany, and France, where the casino industry is significantly larger in terms of customers, operators, and revenue.
