This would be one of the first pieces of advice I would give to any punter. I’ve been guilty of not following this rule in recent days and its led to losing money on sports I have no interest whatsoever.
Just because you find a tipster with impressive stats, if they are tipping on a sport you have no interest in, you don’t have to follow them.
If beating the bookmakers is you only objective, that’s fine, but that’s not why I gamble. I bet for the buzz. The enjoyment of watching my bet unfold or following a golfer down the stretch when a tournament is close.
Otherwise betting just becomes a data entry job. A process of following tipsters, placing bets, tracking results and basically working for your winnings.

So ask yourself this question. What are your favourite sports? What do you most enjoy watching? Also which sports do you have the best knowledge? Sometimes good tipsters post shit tips and if you have an understanding of that sport and market you might be able to avoid backing some poorly selected picks.
So for me, my favourite sports are football, golf, tennis and darts. I could happily watch any of these sports, and having a punt just makes it that little bit more enjoyable.
Once you’ve created your list, then start to look for the tipsters which can help you improve your returns and increase your own knowledge. It’s a good way of narrowing down the tipsters you follow and finding ones which best suit your betting activity.
By betting on the sports you enjoy, the pleasure you gain from this wonderful hobby will only be enhanced.
I will shortly be adding individual pages for the leading sports with guides to the best tipsters, some free tips and useful blog posts like these.
