The ATP event in Stuttgart is officially called the Mercedes Cup. It takes place in mid/late July at the TC Weisshof Tennis Club. The main draw is slightly bigger than most events with 48 players competing on the clay courts. The Mercedes Cup first took place in 1978.

The Mercedes Cup is now regarded as one of the top clay court tournaments and has some excellent champions in recent years. The current champion is Rafael Nadal who continued his dominance on clay courts. He beat Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets in the final.
