TOURNAMENT INFO
 

The tournament in Poertschach is officially called the Hypo Group Tennis International. It is played in late May on clay courts. The main draw consists of 32 players. With the event being staged a week before the French Open many of the leading players use it as a warm up.

The tournament first took place in 1981 and was previously held in St.Poelten. In recent years there have been some excellent winners of the event, most notably Nikolay Davydenko. He won the event two years running in 2005, 2006 and again lifted the trophy in 2008.

Juan Monaco beat Nikolay Davydenko in the Quarter Finals of the 2007 tournament. After this excellent victory the Argentinean went on to defeat Gael Monfils in the final to land his second ATP title. Davydenko bounced back the following season getting revenge over Monaco beating him in the final.
