The ATP event in New Haven is officially called the Pilot Pen Tennis. It takes place in late August and is part of the US Open Series. It is one of several events that players use as a warm up to the US Open. All matches are played on hard courts with 48 players in the main draw.

Pilot Pen Tennis takes place at the Connecticut Tennis Centre. Nearly 100,000 spectators attended the tournament in 2006. The event was not part of the ATP Tour from 1999 - 2004. The current champion is James Blake who won the title for a second time beating Mardy Fish in the final 7-5 6-4.
