The ATP event in Beijing is officially called the China Open. It takes place in Mid September at the Beijing Tennis Centre. The China Open takes place the week after the US Open and some of the leading players will take the week off to rest.

It was part of the ATP Tour between 1993-97 and again since 2004. The main draw consists of 32 players with matches being contested on hard courts. The current champion of the China Open is Fernando Gonzalez who defeated Tommy Robredo 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 in the final.
