Donald Young was born on July 23rd, 1989 in Chicago, USA. He turned pro in 2004 and was ranked the number one junior player in the world. He won the Junior Australian Open in 2005 and the Junior Wimbledon title in 2007. That year he also broke into the top 100 on the ATP Tour.

Young managed to reach the third round of the US Open losing to Feliciano Lopez. He made a promising start to the 2008 season reaching the quarter finals in Memphis. He then reached the 3rd Round in Indian Wells before losing to Rafael Nadal.
