Fernando Verdasco was born on November 15th, 1983 in Madrid, Spain. He turned pro in 2001 and has won once on the ATP Tour. Verdasco started playing tennis at the age of five and had a full time coach when he was just eight years old.

He spent the first few seasons as a pro playing in Futures and Challengers. It was not until 2004 that he really made a name for himself by winning in Valencia on the ATP Tour. His best performances in a grand slam is reaching the 4th round at the 2005 US Open and then at Wimbledon a year later.
