Santiago Ventura was born on January 5th, 1980 in Castellon, Spain. He turned pro in 2001 and is a clay court specialist. He has one ATP title to his name beating Dominik Hrbaty in the final at Casablanca in 2004. His best performance in a Grand Slam came at the 2005 Australian Open (Round 2).

Ventura reached a career high ranking of 65th in 2008 thanks to an excellent performance in Vina Del Mar. He recorded victories over Gaston Gaudio, Sergio Roitman and Fabio Fognini before eventually losing to Juan Monaco in the semi finals.
