Ivan Ljubicic was born on March 19th, 1979 in Bosnia, but represents Croatia in the Davis Cup. He started playing at the age of 9. He was an excellent junior player and was the Under 16 Croatian Champion. He then turned professional in 1998 an played on the Challenge Circuit.

Ljubicic is a tall and powerful player. He has a very strong serve and has played his best tennis on indoor courts, both hardcourt and carpet. He won his first title in 2001 in Lyon and has since won six more times. His best finish in Grand Slam was in 2006 when he reached the semi's at Roland Garros.
