Philipp Kohlschreiber was born on October 16th, 1983 in Augsburg, Germany. He turned pro in 2001 and has won once on the ATP Tour. At the age of 15 he played in a Futures event winning his first ATP rankings points. In 2002 he made his full ATP debut in Munich.

A year later he won his first Challenger event. In 2005 he had his best performance in a Grand Slam when he reached the 4th round of the Australian Open. He finished the season in the Top 100. In 2006 he got to the third round at Wimbledon and won more than 20 matches for the first time.
