Dominik Hrbaty was born on January 4th, 1978 in Bratislava, Slovakia. He turned pro in 1996 and has won six ATP tour titles. He was voted ATP newcomer of the year in his first season as a professional and two years later won his first tournament in San Marino.

Hrbaty is known as one of the fitter players in the men's game. He also has a very strong two handed backhand. He has an excellent head to head record against the leading players Federer and Nadal. His best season came in 2004 when he won three tournaments and reached a career high ranking of 12th.
