Tommy Haas was born on April 3rd, 1978 in Hamburg, Germany. He turned pro in 1996 and has won 11 ATP titles. He has become renowned for his bad temperament which has included some lavish outbursts at players and umpires.

Haas plays his best tennis on hard courts and has won nine of his ten titles on this surface. In May 2002 he reached his highest ranking when he gained the number two spot in the rankings. He has earnt over $7 million in prize funds. His best finish in a grand slam is the semi final of the Australian Open.
