Richard Gasquet was born on June 18th, 1986 in Beziers, France. He turned Pro in 2002 and has won three ATP tour titles. In April 2002 at just 15 years old he became the youngest player to qualify for a Masters Series event, doing so in Monte Carlo.

He then played his first grand slam just a month later at Roland Garros. He ended the year as the number one ranked junior player. In 2005 he made a huge impact beating Roger Federer in the quarter finals of the Monte Carlo Masters. He then won his first event at Nottingham on his 19th birthday.
