Juan Carlos Ferrero was born on February 12th, 1980 in Onteniente, Spain. He is former world number one. He turned pro in 1998 and made his debut a year later reaching the semi-finals. He won his first event on just his fifth start on the ATP Tour.

Ferrero had his best season in 2003 when he won two masters series events and won his only grand slam title, the French Open. He also reached the final of the US Open. These performances saw him take the World number one spot. He has not won a tournament since 2003.
