Juan Martin Del Potro was born on September 23rd, 1988 in Tandil, Argentina. He turned pro in 2006 and made his ATP debut at Vina Del Mar. That year he qualified for the French Open at just 17 years old. 2007 was a big year for Del Potro as he became the youngest player in the top 100.

He made his debut for Argentina in the Davis Cup. He then made it to the 4th Round at the Miami Masters before reaching the second round in his Wimbledon debut losing out to Roger Federer. Del Potro went a round further at the US Open with wins over Nicolas Mahut and Jurgen Melzer.
