Tomas Berdych was born on September 17th, 1985 in Czech Republic. He turned pro in 2002 and has very strong groundstrokes. He has won three tournaments on the ATP Tour including the Paris Masters in 2005. His best finish in a grand slam is the 4th Round.

Berdych has caused some big scalps in recent years. He beat Roger Federer in the 2004 Olympics and has twice defeated Rafael Nadal in Masters Series events. When he won in Paris he defeated 5 seeds on the way to victory. His other tournament wins came in Palermo in 2004 and Halle in 2007.
