| The UK Championship is regarded by many as the second biggest snooker tournament behind only the World Championship. The tournament was first held in 1977. It takes place in December and the 2007 event is due to be held in the Telford International Centre. |

| The UK Championship is contested by 48 players with the top 16 entering in the second round. It receives live television coverage on the BBC each year. The current champion is Ronnie O'Sullivan who played some excellent snooker. In the semi finals he beat Mark Selby 9 - 8 producing a 147 in the deciding frame. |
