The Shanghai Masters is a new event added for the 2007/08 season. It is the one of two ranking events in China, a country where snooker is very popular. The event takes place in August and is the first ranking tournament of the season. It is staged at the Shanghai Grand Stage.
HISTORY
In 2007 there were some surprise results when many of the leading players failing to make an impact. This gave Dominic Dale the opportunity to claim his second ranking tournament victory. He defeated fellow countryman Ryan Day 10-6 in the final.
