| The Grand Prix was first held in 1982 and has had various sponsors in recent years. The tournament takes place in October with 48 players competing. The 2007 Grand Prix was staged at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The first round was split into eight groups of six players. |

| Each match was best out of five frames with the top two players in each group progressing. In 2007 the tournament was won by Marco Fu who went into the event a 200/1 outsider. He won the final against Ronnie O'Sullivan who failed to produce his best snooker. |
