The China Open was a ranking event from 1996 to 2002. Due to the increase in popularity of snooker in China the event returned for the 2004/05 season. The China Open is played in March and is the last event before the World Championship. It is held at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium.
RECENT HISTORY
To allow more Chinese players to take part in the event an extra wild card round was introduced. The qualifying event for the China Open takes place in December. The current champion is Graeme Dott who had excellent wins over Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins and Neil Robertson on his way to victory.
