| The Ascot Gold Cup is one of the biggest flat horse races in the UK. It is staged for 4 year old and above thoroughbreds over a distance of 2 miles, 4 furlongs.It is staged at Ascot and traditionally held on Ladies Day. It is very popular amongst the spectators and is the highlight of Ascot festival.In 2005 it was staged at York whilst Ascot was being rennovated. The race was first staged way back in 1807. |
