The Players Championship is regarded by many as the 5th major. This is because it has one of the best fields and biggest prize funds in golf. The tournament has been held at TPC Sawgrass since 1982 and has provided many exciting finishes over recent years.

The course is famous for its signature hole, the 17th. It is a par 3 measuring just 137 yards. The reason it is so difficult is that the green is an island completely surrounded by water with just a small walk way at the back. As from 2007 tournament will be held in May.
