HISTORY
 

The Blue Chip New Zealand Open is a co-sanctioned event on the Australasian and European Tours since 2005. It takes place in December but counts towards the next European Tour season. It is staged at The Hills Golf Club .

The tournament was originally founded in 1907. It was the first golf event on the European Tour to be held in New Zealand. The current champion is Richard Finch from England who won his first tournament on the European Tour not long after narrowly securing his card for the season.
