The Mercedes Benz Championship is a new event on the European Tour which takes place in September. It used to be called the German Masters. The tournament is hosted and promoted by Bernard Langer and his brother. It takes place at Golf Club Gut Larchenhof in Cologne, Germany.

The new format will have a maximum field of 75 players. To qualify for the event players must of either won a European Tour event that year, be in the top 75 of the World Rankings or the top 60 of the European Tour order of merit. It is hoped the event will become a big success.
