The Memorial Tournament is an event closely associated with Jack Nicklaus. It is stage at Muirfield Village which was designed by Nicklaus. It is played in Dublin, Ohio which is very close to where the great man grew up. The tournament was first held in 1976.
The event is one of the strongest tournaments on the PGA Tour and attracts a very strong field. In 2006 Nicklaus did cause some controversy when he changed the way the bunkers were raked to make it more difficult for players to control the ball out of the sand. |
