The Mayakoba Classic is a PGA Tour event and takes place in February. 2007 is the first time the tournament has been staged. It will be the first ever official money event on the PGA Tour to be held in Mexico. It will take place the same week as the Accenture World Matchplay.

Due to this fact many of the leading players from the tour will be missing. However it provides the other players a very good opportunity to make their mark on the Tour. In 2008 Brian Gay did just that shooting a score of -16 under par to land his first title on the PGA Tour.
