The Madeira Island Open is a European Tour event which takes place in March. The current champion is Alistair Forsyth from Scotland. The tournament is held at Santo da Serra on the Madeira Islands in Portugal. It was first played in 1993 but is one the smaller events in Europe.
The Madeira Island Open is often played on the same week as another tournament such as the US Masters or a World Golf Championship. As a result many of the leading players are absent from this event. Forsyth beat Hennie Otto to win the title in 2008. |
