The Barclays Scottish Open takes place at Loch Lomond golf course just North of Glasgow. It has been played at this venue since 1996. The tournament takes place in July the week before the Open Championship. As a result it sometimes attracts leading golfers from the PGA Tour.
The Scottish Open has become one of the biggest tournaments on the European Tour and is one of the richest. In 2005 the total prize fund for the event was £2.4 million. The tournament is live on BBC television making it
