Lian-Wei Zhang was born on May 2nd, 1965 in Zhuhai, China. He has been the most successful golfer from China in recent years. He was the China Amateur Open Champion three times before turning pro in 1994. He has played in Asia, Europe and Japan winning many tournaments.
His biggest victory came on the European Tour in 2003 when he beat Ernie Els on the final hole to land the Caltex Singapore Masters. This victory shot Zhang into the top 100 of the world rankings. The following year he played in the US Masters but failed to make the cut. |
