Simon Yates was born on March 16th, 1970 in Scotland. He turned pro in 1989 and has been playing on the Asian Tour since 1995. Yates has had a lot of success on the Asian Tour and can often be seen playing the co-sanctioned events on the European Tour.

Simon Yates has won two tournaments in Asia. His first victory was the 1998 Sabah Masters followed by the 2004 Telecom Open. He has also finished as runner up on 10 separate occasion. These results have helped Yates finish inside the top 10 of the Asian Tour order of merit five times.
