Tom Whitehouse was born on March 22nd, 1980 in Birmingham, England. He started playing at the age of 12 thanks to his cousin Sam Walker. He played for England at all levels and won the Spanish Amateur Championship in 2001. He turned professional the following season.

He was a rookie on the European Tour in 2004 but really struggled. He did win an event on the Challenge Tour that season. In 2005 he won the qualifying school to win his card back. His second year on the European Tour was an improvement as he finished the season 95th.
