Steve Webster was born on January 17th, 1975 in Nuneaton, England. He was the leading amateur at the Open Championship in 1995 finishing 24th. In the same year Webster went on to win the European Tour Qualifying School. He lost his card in his rookie season but has been on tour ever since.

Between 1997 and 2006 Webster has finished in the top 100 of the European Tour Order of Merit. His best season came in 2005 when he finally won his first tournament. His victory came at the Telecom Italia Open and helped him finish 29th on the Order of Merit, his best ever finish.
