Sam Walker was born on March 1st, 1978 in Birmingham, England. He comes from a very sporting family and took up golf at the age of six. He turned pro in 2000 and joined the Mastercard Tour. Walker earnt a place on the European Tour through the qualifying school.

He birdied the final three holes to earn his card. In his rookie season, Walker struggled. He finished the year ranked 144th and lost his card. Sam Walker then spent four years on the Challenge Tour and in 2006 he finished 9th in the rankings including a win at the Scottish Challenge.
