David Toms was born in Louisiana, USA on January 4th, 1967. In 1984 he won the 15 -17 year old boys event at the Junior World Golf Championships. He then went to study at Louisiana State University before joining the PGA Tour in 1992. He has helped redesign several tour courses in recent years.
He won his first tournament in 1997. Since then he has won 12 times on tour including the 2001 US PGA Championship. His aggregate score of 265 is the lowest number of shots ever taken to win a major championship. Toms played some of the best golf of his career to win the 2005 Accenture Matchplay. |
