Vaughn Taylor was born on March 9th, 1967 in Virginia, USA. As an infant he moved to Augusta where he attended college and still lives today. As an amateur golfer he qualified for the US Open in 1998 but failed to make the cut. A year later he decided to turn professional.

He is a four time winner on the Hooters Tour and earnt his PGA Tour card by finishing 11th on the Nationwide Tour in 2003. In his rookie season he won over a $1 million. He also claimed his first victory winning a four man playoff to claim the Reno Tahoe Open which he won again a year later.
