Jerry Smith was born on April 24th, 1964 in Iowa, USA. He turned pro in 1987 and spent several years playing in both Asia and South America. He had a spell on the PGA Tour between 2000 - 02. His best year was in 2001 when he ended the season ranked 85th on the money list.

Jerry Smith had a very successful year on the Nationwide Tour in 2005 when he finished 6th on the rankings. This was enough to win back his PGA Tour card. Despite finishing 5th in the 2006 Shell Houston Open he ended the year 137th on the money list and will need to improve in the future.
