Joey Sindelar was born on March 30th, 1958 in Kentucky, USA. He attended the University of Ohio where he was a leading player in the golf team. In 1981 he was named as the University's athlete of the year. Later in that year he decided it was the right time to turn professional.

Sindelar has been one of the most consistent performers on the PGA Tour with seven victories and over 80 top ten finishes. His best season was in 1988 when he recorded two victories and 10 top tens. His last tour victory was at the 2004 Wachovia Championship.
