Marcel Siem was born on July 15th, 1980 in Mettmann, Germany. He started playing golf at the age of six and turned pro in 2000. He first earnt his place on the European Tour through the Qualifying School in 2002. He had a poor rookie season finishing 131st on the money list.

This did not phase Siem as he went back to the Qualifying School to regain his card. He has been on the European Tour ever since. His best season came in 2004 which including a breakthrough victory at the Dunhill Championship in South Africa. This helped him to a 39th place finish on the money list.
