Jean Francois Remesy was born on June 5th, 1964 in Nimes, France. He was the French Amateur Champion in 1987, the same year he turned pro. To begin his career Remesy struggled to make any impact. He won a small tournament in France and had a victory on the Challenge Tour in 1994.
It was in 1999 that he made a breakthrough. A victory on the European Tour in Estoril helped him finish 57th on the order of merit. Then in 2004 he won the Open de France. He was the first Frenchman for 35 years to achieve this feat. A year later he defended the title beating Jean Van de Velde in a playoff. |
