Billy Mayfair was born on August 6th, 1966 in Arizona USA. He had a successful amateur career winning the US Amateur Championship in 1987. In the same year Mayfair was a member of the Walker Cup team. He turned professional a year later and has since won five times on the PGA Tour.
Mayfair won his first event in 1993, the Greater Milwaukee Open where he beat Mark Calcavecchia and Ted Schulz in a playoff. He has played seven playoffs and only won on two occasions. His second playoff win was memorable, beating Tiger Woods to win the 1998 Nissan Open. |
