Charles Howell III was born on June 20th, 1979 in Georgia, USA. He grew up in the home town of the US Masters and started playing golf at the age of 7. He attended the Oklahoma State University and won the 2000 NCAA Golf Championship He turned pro later that year and finished 3rd in his first event.
He was Rookie of the Year in 2001 and claimed his first tour victory a year later, the Michelob Championship at Kingsmill. Charles Howell III then struggled to live up to his potential and it wasn't until 2007 that he won his next tournament. He beat Phil Mickelson in a playoff to win the Nissan Open. |
