Sergio Garcia was born on the 9th January 1980 in Spain. He began playing golf at the age of 3, taught by his father. At the age of just 12 he won his club championship. Two years later he became the youngest player to make a cut in a European Tour event.
He turned pro in 1999 winning two European Tour events and coming 2nd to Tiger Woods in the US PGA Championship. He has the nickname 'El Nino' and plays tournament on both tours. He has an excellent Ryder Cup record and has spent much of his career in the top 10 of the world rankings. |
